"Be Humane – Save Universe" / "मानवता अपनाइए – ब्रह्मांड को बचाइए"

Both of us chose voluntary retirement (VRS) nearly seven years before the normal age of retirement, so that we could dedicate more of our lives to society and the environment. Having served as a Senior Veterinary Officer and as a District Education Officer, we believed our second innings must carry forward true service.

With love for nature and a passion for meaningful journeys, we founded Shristi Mitraa as co-trustees — she as President, and I as Secretary. From the beginning, my focus remained on free treatment for livestock keepers and care for animals and birds, while her dedication flowed into guiding children in their education, especially supporting orphaned and underprivileged students.

On the roof of our home, we experimented with hydroponics and vegetable gardening in pots, inspiring our acquaintances and friends to adopt eco-friendly practices. On World Environment Day, this initiative was also covered by the newspaper.

Today, Shristi Mitraa continues this spirit — through tree plantations, animal & bird rescue and treatment, education support for needy children, cleanliness drives, senior care, water and soil conservation, and awareness programs. With our Caravan journeys, we keep connecting with people and protecting nature.

हमने सेवानिवृत्ति की सामान्य आयु से लगभग सात वर्ष पहले ही स्वैच्छिक सेवानिवृत्ति (VRS) लेकर यह ठाना कि जीवन का अधिक समय समाज और प्रकृति की सेवा को देंगे। एक वरिष्ठ पशुचिकित्साधिकारी और एक जिला शिक्षा अधिकारी के रूप में सेवा करने के बाद हमने निश्चय किया कि जीवन का दूसरा पड़ाव सच्ची सेवा का होगा।

प्रकृति-प्रेम और सार्थक यात्राओं की चाह के साथ हमने श्रृष्टि मित्रा की स्थापना की — वह अध्यक्षा और मैं सचिव। शुरुआत से ही मेरा ध्यान पशुपालकों को निःशुल्क उपचार और पशु-पक्षियों की देखभाल पर रहा, वहीं उनका समर्पण बच्चों की शिक्षा में मार्गदर्शन और अनाथ व गरीब छात्र-छात्राओं को सहयोग में रहा।

घर की छत पर हमने हाइड्रोपोनिक और गमलों में सब्ज़ियों की खेती का प्रयोग किया, जिससे हमारे परिचितों और दोस्तों को पर्यावरण हितैषी तरीके अपनाने की प्रेरणा मिली। पर्यावरण दिवस पर इस पहल को अख़बार में भी स्थान मिला।

आज सृष्टि मित्रा उसी भावना को आगे बढ़ा रहा है — पौधारोपण, पशु-पक्षी उद्धार और उपचार, शिक्षा में सहयोग, स्वच्छता अभियान, वरिष्ठ सेवा, जल-मिट्टी संरक्षण और जागरूकता कार्यक्रमों के माध्यम से। अपनी Caravan यात्राओं से हम समाज से जुड़ते हैं और प्रकृति की रक्षा करते हैं।
